2024 Travel Grants - Round 2 Applications Now Open

The UWA Data Institute is offering UWA Higher Degree Research Students and Early Career Researchers travel grants to a maximum of $2,000 to support their on-going research on topics related to data science, machine learning and/or artificial intelligence from any discipline domain. 2023/2024 Summer Research Project Grant Report

In August 2023, the UWA Data Institute opened applications for the inaugural round of its Summer Research Project Grants scheme. UWA researchers were invited to apply for a Summer Research Project Grant to fund strategic cross-disciplinary data science, machine learning and/or artificial intelligence student research projects over the 2023/2024 summer break.   Five Grants were offered, each valued at $8,000. Two of these were sponsored by our UWA Data Institute Foundation Sponsors BCG X and IMDEX. The Projects are now complete. The research undertaken has been outstanding and we congratulate all the students and supervisors on the calibre of their work.

TEDx Kings Park

Professor Jingbo Wang wowed a full house under the TEDxKingsPark spotlight with the "super-natural" bizarre behaviour of quantum particles. Professor Jingbo Wang leads a group of passionate researchers from Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics and Finance at the QUISA Group (see our Research page) tackling the challenges and harnessing the power of Quantum Technology, and is also a member of our UWA Data Institute Research Committee.
